Water-wise Workshop Series Launches Next Week at Hillcrest Library

February 11, 2026

BOISE — Free Water-Wise gardening classes are being offered at the Library! at Hillcrest beginning Feb. 18. The eight-week educational series will run on Wednesdays from 6:30–7:30 p.m. through April 8.

Designed for gardeners of all experience levels, the series focuses on practical, sustainable techniques to help participants maintain healthy plants and soil while saving money and conserving our local water resources. Topics include rainwater catchment, water-wise plant selection, composting and more. New to the lineup this year is Safe Weed and Pest Management, presented by University of Idaho Extension Educator Brad Stokes.

“I’m excited to offer some new workshops this year based on requests from past participants,” said Crystal Davidson, program coordinator and Soil Health Educator at Ada Soil and Water Conservation District. “There’s been a lot of interest in addressing weeds and pests without harming the watershed.”

The Water-Wise Workshop series is presented in partnership with Ada Soil and Water Conservation District, Veolia and The WaterShed. Classes are led by regional experts committed to sustainable land and water stewardship.

“Programs like this help us preserve Boise’s water for future generations,” said City of Boise Public Works Director Steve Burgos. “Every drop counts, and this partnership gives our community practical tools to make water-wise choices at home.”

Workshop attendees will have the chance to win door prizes at every session. Participants who attend six or more workshops will also be entered to win a grand prize—a personalized garden consultation with Bee Wise Gardens.

All classes are free and open to the public. Space is limited. Register in advance at adaswcd.org/water-wise-workshops.

The City of Boise is committed to ensuring equal access to all public meetings, programs, and services. Reasonable accommodations and effective communication—such as ASL interpretation, materials in alternative formats and language access—are available at no cost to facilitate participation.
