Vista Neighborhood

The Vista Neighborhood, a gateway to the city, was identified as the first partnership area for the Energize Our Neighborhoods program when it launched in 2014. Throughout the three years of focused investment, Vista residents designed the strategies, prioritized projects, and served on committees and in leadership roles.

Why the Vista Neighborhood?

The city identified the Vista Neighborhood as an area rich in opportunity after reviewing citywide livability indicators, neighborhood demographics and several significant local assets.

  • The Vista Avenue Corridor is an important economic catalyst for the Vista Neighborhood and the entire city.
  • The Whitney Community Center is operated by Boise Parks & Recreation in partnership with the Boise School District. The community center is a great neighborhood resource. It offers amenities that include a free after-school program, studio space for art and dance classes, a supervised teen activity center and a community garden.
  • The City of Boise owns 80 units of affordable housing on Vista Avenue.
  • The entire Vista Neighborhood qualifies for certain federal funds administered by the City of Boise.
