In May 2023, the city purchased nearly 2 acres of land in the West Bench to build affordable housing. The project is part of the City’s affordable housing land trust and the city is also partnering with Ada County to provide gap financing for construction.

Dorado Station will include 10 units for households earning less than 80% of the area median income (AMI) and 200 units for households making less than 60% AMI, 19 of which will be for households earning less than 50% AMI and 20 of which will be dedicated to households exiting homelessness.

Dorado Station is projected to begin construction in mid 2025.
