On Wednesday, September 25, the Boise School District had it's first-ever Kindness Carnival as part of the Boise Kind initiative. Mayor Bieter and the City of Boise joined them at Camels Back Park where they gathered to spread the message "Start With Hello"
The Kindness Carnival included a wide-variety of hands-on student activities to promote and encourage our schools to spread the message of “Start with Hello”. The hope is to empower Boise students, staff and the community to create a culture of inclusion that values each individual at our schools.
This program enables students to make a difference with their peers in a simple, fun, and impactful way by encouraging them to take small but powerful actions to promote connectedness and inclusion, and to identify and help others who are showing signs of social isolation. Upon completion of this kickoff, we will encourage other Boise schools to hold similar "Start With Hello" kindness events during the school year.
"When it comes to kindness, our schools live it every day," said Coby Dennis , superintendent, Boise School District. "So, when the City approached us to participate in the Boise Kind initiative, we eagerly replied yes! We are so very excited to kick-off the 2019-20 school year with this inaugural Kindness Carnival to showcase kindness in our schools."
