Boise Fire Responds to Several Incidents on the Boise River

July 7, 2019

The Boise River was a busy place for floaters yesterday. Between noon and 8 p.m. on July 6 we had ten water rescues/assists. Boise Fire would like to advise floaters to not tie their rafts or tubes together. This can cause an issue when groups get to the Broadway Bridge and half of the floaters go to one side of the pillar and half to the other, causing a rescue event. Boise River Raft and Tube Rentals at Barber Park will be notifying floaters about the dangers of tying together. Boise Fire would also like to remind floaters that under Idaho law lifejackets are required by anyone under 14 and everyone should have a lifejacket available. Appropriate footwear for walking in case you have an issue is also recommend.
