City of Boise Appoints Coronavirus Task Force

March 5, 2020

Today, Mayor McLean and acting Boise Fire Chief Romeo Gervais announced a City of Boise Coronavirus Task Force, leveraging the city’s Emergency Management process, to ensure that we are prepared as a city to address an outbreak if there is one.

“It’s important to remember that the individual risk to Idaho is low, but we want to be prepared as a city if there is an outbreak to address it quickly and efficiently. This task force will ensure we can do that,” Mayor McLean said.

The committee is chaired by Mallory Wilson, Boise’s Emergency Manager and includes Police Chief Mike Masterson; Deputy Chief Ron Winegar; Boise Fire Deputy Chief Perry Oldenburg; Boise Fire Division Chief of EMS Shawn Rayne, City Council President Pro Tem Holli Woodings, Jade Riley (Boise’s Chief Operating Officer) and Char Jackson (Boise Fire Communications Manager).

This task force will focus on coordinating and planning for an outbreak with other state and local entities and will report to the Mayor on efforts and coordination with local, regional and state agencies.

We also want to remind residents to wash hands frequently using soap and water or hand sanitizer; avoid touching your face; cough or sneeze into a tissue or your elbow; stay home if you're sick; and disinfect objects and surfaces regularly.
