Boise Design Review Committee Seeks Applicants

May 7, 2021

The City of Boise’s Design Review Committee is seeking applicants to serve a four-year term. The Committee makes final decisions on projects that have Design Review approval requirements and are associated with the city’s commercial, industrial, office and multi-family residential zones. The Design Review process protects property rights and values, enhances important environmental features of the city, and ensures that the general appearance of buildings and site improvements are consistent with the goals of the city.

Residents with backgrounds or experience in architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, and law professions are encouraged to apply. Applicants must have the ability to meet monthly, be residents of the City of Boise or the Area of Impact and will serve for a four-year term. Meetings are typically held the second Wednesday of the month beginning at 5:30 p.m. The deadline for applying is Friday, May 28th. Residents can apply by sending a cover letter and resume to commissionapplications@cityofboise.org.

Committee members, appointed by Mayor Lauren McLean and affirmed by the Boise City Council, will provide recommendations and function on behalf of the Planning & Zoning Commission with one member a liaison to the P & Z Commission. With up to eight voting members, including one student, the Committee will represent, as much as possible, the diverse spectrum of people who enjoy all that Boise has to offer. Geographic diversity, as well as expertise and experience in areas relevant to the Committee’s purpose, will be considered in the appointment process.
