Mayor Lauren McLean is recommending Alexandra Winkler be named permanent director of the City of Boise’s Department of Information Technology. Her appointment will be considered by the Boise City Council on Tuesday, September 14.
As the city’s Chief Information Officer, Winkler will oversee a technology department with a team of more than 60 employees charged with application, website and geographic information system development, infrastructure management, project coordination, technology system implementation, and internal network and computer customer support.
In this role, Winkler will leverage her cross-domain experience in IT, product, and consulting in addition to her background in government, healthcare, customer service, and logistics to enable the city’s growth in the digital space.
Winkler comes to the City of Boise with more than 20 years of experience in operational strategy, team leadership, and management of transformation and technology projects and budgets in both the public and private sectors. Most recently, she served as Senior Director of Product Operations at Healthwise, a long-standing Boise non-profit, where she facilitated scaling product development efforts and operationalized the company’s strategy.
Her background also includes leading teams to develop backend platform capabilities at Healthwise and develop information technology requirements at an IT consultancy. She worked as a management consultant for Deloitte and served our country in the Air Force managing transformation projects and implementations. She has certifications and experience in project management, change management, and lean process improvement.
Winkler’s confirmation will be considered by members of the Boise City Council at their regularly scheduled meeting on September 14 at 6 p.m. in Maryanne Jordan Council Chambers.
