May 25, 2022

Memorial Day weekend will be observed at Morris Hill Cemetery (317 N. Latah St.) Saturday, May 28 through Monday, May 30. Staff will be on site to assist the public in identifying grave locations.

Hours at the cemetery will be:

  • 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 28
  • 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 29
  • 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, May 30 (Memorial Day)

Two other cemeteries maintained by Boise Parks and Recreation, Pioneer Cemetery (460 E. Warm Springs Ave.) and Fort Boise Military Reserve Cemetery (1101 N. Mountain Cove Rd.), will be open to the public Memorial Day weekend, but as is the case each year, those locations will not be staffed.

A Civil War volunteer group will conduct their annual flag-raising ceremony, eulogy, and gun salute on Monday, May 30 at 11:45 a.m. at the Silent Camp in Morris Hill Cemetery. The ceremony pays tribute to fallen soldiers and recognizes the significance of Memorial Day.

Visitors are welcome to place artificial flowers, flags, fresh flowers, and wreaths graveside at city cemeteries. No glass or breakable containers are allowed.  All mementos must be picked up by June 6 for those who wish to recollect them.
