Ridge to Rivers Launches Trail User Survey, Hosts Open House

September 21, 2022

The Ridge to Rivers partnership, led by the City of Boise, is seeking feedback on the Boise Foothills trail system through an online user survey. The goal of the brief survey is to gather feedback on overall trail use, follow up on some of the special trail management strategies adopted in 2021 and seek suggestions about future opportunities for improved recreation in the foothills. Click here to take the 15-question survey.

Boise Parks and Recreation is also hosting an open house from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28 at the Jim Hall Foothills Learning Center (3188 Sunset Peak Road) to promote the survey. Residents and trail users are encouraged to stop by to learn more about the trail system, talk with Ridge to Rivers partnership agencies, and participate in the online survey. Attendees are invited to drop-in at any time during the open house to ask questions and learn more about the Ridge to Rivers partnership and upcoming projects. Please note, parking at the Foothills Learning Center is limited and walking, hiking or biking to the event is encouraged.

The fall survey is scheduled to close at 5 p.m. on October 31, 2022. Trail managers and the Boise Parks and Recreation Department will analyze survey comments and input received and provide a summary for trail users following the feedback period. Information gathered will help guide future Ridge to Rivers management strategies and opportunities in the foothills.

“Through outreach opportunities like this survey, our trail team and Ridge to Rivers rangers can continue to engage with the public on trail etiquette and mindful, responsible use of the Boise Foothills,” said Ridge to Rivers Program Manager David Gordon. “We know how important these recreation opportunities are for people of all ages and abilities.”

The Ridge to Rivers partnership includes the City of Boise, Ada County, the Bureau of Land Management Four Rivers Field Office, the Boise National Forest and the Idaho Department of Fish and Game. Together, these partner agencies manage more than 200 miles of trails located throughout the Boise Foothills.
