Around 10:10 am Boise Police officers responded to a report of a vehicle vs pedestrian crash at N. 16th Street and W. Washington Street. A preliminary investigation shows a truck driver headed Southbound on 16th Street collided with a male teenager riding a skateboard in the crosswalk. Sadly, the teenager passed away from his injuries on the scene. Investigators with the Crash Reconstruction Team and detectives from the Violent Crime Unit responded to investigate and the investigation is ongoing. 16th Street was closed from Franklin to State St. and is now back open.
Officers and BPD’s Victim Witness Coordinators are working with staff from the Boise School District to provide support for witnesses and others impacted by this traumatic event.
The Ada County Coroner will release the identity of the victim pending notification of next of kin.
