BPD arrests suspect in sexual assault investigation

Arrested: Alexander Rutledge, 25, Boise

Charges: Rape (F), Assault - Aggravated (F)

Boise Police Detectives arrested Alexander Rutledge on Thursday, March 14^th, 2024 following a sexual assault investigation.  BPD would like to thank the public for the numerous tips that were called in.  It was tips from the public that initially helped police locate the subject in the surveillance photos.  He was arrested upon further investigation.  Rutledge was booked into the Ada County Jail on the listed charges.

Boise Police Department detectives are investigating a report of a violent sexual assault on Friday night.  Detectives have followed up on several leads and are looking for help identifying a person seen in the area who may have more information about the incident.

Photos of the subject of interest are included below. Anyone with information that would help detectives identify this person is asked to call Ada County Dispatch at 208-377-6790.

What Happened: On March 8, 2024, around 5:45 pm Boise Police responded to a report of a rape at a motel on the 2700 block of W. Elder Street.  It was reported that a female had been attacked in a room and the suspect had a knife.  The victim was able to fight and get away.  Ada County Paramedics treated the victim and she was taken to a local hospital.  Detectives from the Boise Police Department Special Victims Unit are investigating and have identified the person seen in the attached photos as someone they would like to talk to.
