The Boise Police Violent Crimes Unit and Crash Reconstruction Team have completed their investigation into a fatal crash at the intersection of S. Millbrook Way and E. Warm Springs Avenue on September 9, 2024.
An investigation showed that Jose Alfaro Rosales was driving a garbage truck north on S. Millbrook and stopped at the stop bar before E. Warm Springs. When Alfaro Rosales drove into the intersection, a motorcycle, traveling west on Warm Springs also arrived at the intersection and collided with the garbage truck. The motorcycle rider, 73-year-old John Liller, had the right of way at the time of the collision. Liller passed away at the scene.
On January 27, 2025, Boise Police cited Jose Alfaro Rosales with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter.

Today, September 9, 2024, around 12:30 p.m. Boise Police Patrol officers responded to a crash between a motorcycle and a garbage truck in the intersection of S. Millbrook Way and E. Warm Springs Avenue. The motorcycle rider was seriously injured and despite life-saving efforts on scene, the rider passed away from his injuries.
Detectives from the Boise Police Violent Crimes Unit and members of BPD’s Crash Reconstruction Team, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Unit, and Community Service Officers responded to the scene.
A preliminary investigation shows the garbage truck was headed northbound on Millbrook Way and the motorcycle rider was headed westbound on Warm Springs Ave when the collision occurred. The motorcycle rider struck the passenger side of the garbage truck.
No citations or charges have been issued at this time and the crash remains under investigation. The Ada County Coroner will release the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin.
