Update: Boise Fire and Boise Police respond to water rescue in a canal

Sadly, the adult female rescued from a Boise canal did not survive and passed away yesterday. An investigation led by Boise Police and the Ada County Coroner is underway. The victim’s name will be released by the Ada County Coroner pending notification of next of kin.

At approximately 7:51 p.m., Boise Fire and Boise Police responded to reports of a person in the canal near the 2900 block of W Rose Hill Street. Crews immediately began searching the water and canal banks. Boise Fire located and rescued an adult female in the canal near Latah Street, provided medical care, and medics transported the patient to a local hospital. Initial reports indicated a possible second victim, but after an extensive search, no additional individuals were found.

Latah St is closed to traffic from Cassia to Albion. Drivers are asked to avoid the area.
