The City of Boise is once again making it easy to safely dispose of unused and unwanted prescription medications. The Boise Police Department, City of Boise Curb It Program, and AARP Idaho invite residents to participate in a convenient Drive-Thru Drug Take Back event on April 25, 2026, at City Hall West.
During last year’s April event, more than 300 pounds of unwanted or expired prescription medication were safely collected, helping keep these substances out of the wrong hands and protecting our environment. Building on that success, the city encourages even more residents to take part this year.
Unused or leftover prescription drugs can pose serious risks if misused or improperly disposed of. Flushing medications down sinks or toilets can also interfere with Boise’s water renewal process. Safe, proactive disposal helps prevent misuse and keeps harmful pharmaceutical compounds out of local waterways and landfills.
Participating is simple and you don’t even have to leave your car. Boise Police officers and city staff will be on-site to quickly and safely collect medications at the drive-thru.
