Eagle Rock Park

2150 E. Penitentiary Rd., Boise

Eagle Rock Park was built on land leased by the City of Boise from the state of Idaho. The land was leased to the city for 50 years in 1983. This neighborhood park is close to the historic Warm Springs State Penitentiary.

Eagle Rock Park Court Conversion Decision

On Thursday, July 21, the Boise Parks and Recreation Commission considered proposals for a potential court conversion at Eagle Rock Park. The three proposals included:

  • Keep the courts as is with no changes
  • Convert both tennis courts to six dedicated pickleball courts
  • Create a hybrid court scenario with one court dedicated to tennis with the on-site backboard, and the other court converted to two dedicated pickleball courts (tennis and pickleball play areas will be separated by a net)

Thank you to the community members who testified at the commission meeting and who shared their thoughts, feedback and concerns throughout the community engagement process. At the July 21 meeting, commission members voted unanimously to move forward with the hybrid court scenario. You can watch a full recording of the meeting at the link below.

Boise Parks and Recreation staff will now begin the planning process to convert one of the tennis courts at Eagle Rock Park into two dedicated pickleball courts.
