Hewett Park Improvements

Hewett Playground Construction
Hewett Playground Construction August 2024

The City of Boise is investing in upgrades at Hewett Park this summer, including adding a new ADA accessible sidewalk extending from W. McMillan Road south to North Oxbow Place and a new playground for the neighborhood. Boise City Council members recently approved funding for the installation of additional accessible playground equipment. The updated playground design features inclusive and accessible play equipment including a bird nest swing, play house, various climbing structures, a sensory garden wall, and equipment for kids of a variety of ages and abilities. Please note, the existing two playgrounds on site will be removed and the new playground will be combined into one pod. The new play area will feature fully accessible bonded rubber surfacing.

Playground construction started in mid-July. The playground area is fenced off and closed — please stay out for your own safety. It is anticipated to reopen when work is completed in October.

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience while the park is under construction. Please feel free to email us with any concerns or questions.

Project completion estimates are subject to change due to volatility in the construction industry. Current challenges include material availability, rising costs, supply chain disruptions, staffing shortages and more. Boise Parks and Recreation will update project timelines as needed if delays occur.
