Project Update – November 2023

The permanent restroom located at Rhodes Skate Park has been closed due to ongoing design and maintenance issues (a portable is currently available on-site). Boise Parks and Recreation is now planning to build a new permanent restroom to improve access for all park visitors. The proposed restroom update, modeled like the urban restroom at Cherie Buckner-Webb Park, will provide a safer and cleaner option at the park.

The City of Boise is submitting a proposal to the Idaho Department of Commerce for an Idaho Community Development Block Grant (ICDBG) for funding to supplement the design and construction of the new restroom in the amount of $320,000. ICDBG requires a public hearing opportunity as part of the application process. Community members are invited to attend the November 16, 2023 Boise Parks and Recreation Commission meeting to testify on the new proposed restroom plan and corresponding grant application. The hearing will include a discussion of the need for the project; an overview of the application process; and the project’s scope of work, location, funding/budget, schedule, and expected benefits.
