Boise's Historic Districts

The City of Boise was founded in the middle of the 19th century, and thus its architectural inventory represents virtually all major national architectural movements since the latter half of that century. Through the creation of Boise’s ten locally designated historic districts, the city has inventoried the vast number and variety of structures in historic neighborhoods throughout Boise, contributing to the preservation of the city’s frontier and architectural heritage. The districts afford protection to the city’s streetcar suburbs, Boise’s agricultural history and many unique structures that represent the varied architectural styles found across Boise.
