A Certificate of Appropriateness (COA) - Major application applies to most exterior changes of a site and buildings within any Historic District (HD-O) as determined by the Decision Matrix including but not limited to:
- Demolishing any part of a primary or accessory building
- Major landscaping alterations or tree removal
- Change of roofing material
- Siding replacement
- Window replacement
- Solar Panel Installation
- Additions
A COA is not required for interior alterations or temporary structures. The use of a Major or Minor Certificate of Appropriateness and, therefore, the review body is determined by the Decision Matrix. A COA - Major is reviewed by the Historic Preservation Commission.
