Residential Request for Vacancy Status

Note: Vacancy status is limited to six (6) months. The customer must notify the City as soon as they know the property will become vacant. Vacancy requests cannot be backdated.

If your property is going to be vacant for an extended period of time, or is currently uninhabitable, fill out the form below.

If not completed in advance, vacancies will be approved the next billing cycle.

During a vacancy, the below must be true:

1. The property at the referenced service address will be vacant for a minimum of 30 consecutive days
2. No sewer and/or trash (depending on the type of vacancy applied for) services will be used while the property is in vacancy status.
3. Republic Services will not honor any cart changes or collection of any type while the property is in vacancy status, if account is on vacancy for trash services.

If the City of Boise determines sewer or trash service has been used or trash and/or recycle carts are set out while the property is in vacancy status, you agree to pay occupied rates for the entire vacancy period.

If you request that trash and/or recycling carts be removed from the premises, you will make them available to be picked up and acknowledge there will be a fee to remove the carts.

As a city of Boise resident, you will still be subject to base fees while on a vacancy. A vacancy only removes the usage fees.
