Combustible Dust Producing Operations Permit

The combustible dust producing operations permit applies to the operation of a grain elevator, flour starch mill, feed mill or a plant pulverizing aluminum, coal, cocoa, magnesium, spices or sugar, or other operations that produce dust that is a finely divided solid material which is 420 microns or less in diameter and passes through a U.S. No. 40 sieve.

Prevention Plan Drawings

Fire prevention plan drawing (site plan) including building floor plan with proposed area of operation.

Activity Description

Activity description including all equipment, processes and operations related to dust production, fire protection devices provided and cleaning procedures to mitigate dust accumulation.

Application

  1. Log in to our online permitting and licensing system. If you are a first time user of this system, you will need to create an account.
  2. After logging in, click "Apply" and select "Fire Permit" from the top menu bar.
  • Review and accept the online disclaimer and complete the application.
  • In your application you will have the opportunity to request an inspection date and time. Please note that the Fire Department will contact you directly to confirm your inspection time.
