Critical Incidents

The Ada County Critical Incident Task Force (CITF) was created in 2001 by the Ada County Sheriff’s Office and the Boise, Meridian, Garden City, and Idaho State police.

The task force conducts criminal investigations of incidents that involve serious injury, death, or potential of serious injury or death as a result of an officer, or officers, use-of-force.

The agreement establishes that one of the agencies not directly involved in a critical incident conducts the investigation and presents the results to the Ada County Prosecutor. The Ada County Prosecutor reviews the report or conflicts it out to another county prosecutor in Idaho to determine if any laws have been broken.

When that review is completed or as soon as possible, the Boise Police Department will post a news release with on body video and the completed CITF report.

Critical incidents are listed by the year the incident occurred. Reports are updated as new information is available.
